Buddhism lessons with Sayardaw
I began my first lessons in Buddhism this morning with the head monk, or master: "Sayardaw". He filmed the session, they said it's to keep a historical record of the monastery. I didn't mind that at all, but wish they had of told me as I hadn't put any make-up on. Luckily, I was wearing my teaching clothes (longyi & local Myanmar dress). I am slowly learning but it is very complicated. He will give me an outline of Buddhist philosophy written in English tomorrow. He also said when I learn how to meditate I am allowed to meditate with the monks in the special meditation building (don't know the name)! I feel very privileged to be learning in this way: individualized lessons with the Master of the monastery. I am very blessed. I am hoping this is an indication of good karma! I will take a photo of our 2nd session tomorrow and post it up.
